Excellent FreeNAS resource!
By Amazon Customer
A great help in building my first FreeNAS server. Cameron's book goes well beyond the basic free FreeNAS guide to provide more comprehensive background on FreeNAS, along with configuration examples and explanations of various options. While there is plenty of information on FreeNAS out on the Internet, it means scouring various web sites and forums to glean relevant information. Whereas Cameron's book offers a singular resource in a clear and concise format. I bought the book for the sections on PVR plugin configuration, which were great. But I also particularly appreciated his discussion of hardware options, especially HBA's. That said, I wish the book included a section covering jails and the installation / configuration of non-plugin software. That seems to be the only "hole" in the books treatment of FreeNAS. An idea for future editions?

THE book for anyone new to FreeNAS
By Gary Anthony Roberts
Fantastic!!
This book is exactly what I needed. I was disappointed to find so little basic information out there about FreeNAS, apart from the FreeNAS manual (which is still lacking in basic details about Datasets, storage volumes etc.). Forums are full of experts who have no idea about how to communicate in a way that beginners will find easy to understand.
Cameron is clearly an expert, but he explains everything in simple terms. He gives some great comparisons between concepts in FreeNAS and their Windows equivalents which makes things very easy to understand. I would HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who wants to know more about FreeNAS. Thanks Cameron - good work!
