My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ after reading ‘FORBIDDEN HEAT’(via: BooksMoviesFandoms.wordpress.c o m):

*May contain Spoilers if you haven’t read Forbidden Blood (book #1) yet.*

This is my review for Forbidden Heat which is the second novel of the Forbidden series by R. L. Kenderson. I absolutely adored the uniqueness of the first novel of this series and it was not what I expected. I was excited and looking forward to getting the chance to review this one. Now that I've read it, I can not tell you how much I loved it and found the flow of the story so enthralling. It’s hard to give a truly fulfilling description of this story and the characters without giving away a few spoilers but I will try my best. The story contains humans, vampires and two types of “shifters”. Trust me when I say this isn’t your typical “vampy” story I can assure you it’s better than that.

For those like me who enjoy multiple P.O.V.’s(point of views) in a story, this one like the first has plenty. We get 9 P.O.V.’s from: Payton Llewlyn(Shifter-daughter to Alpha), Damien Lowell(Shifter-son to Alpha), a mystery ‘Shifter’ enemy, Alpha Vance Llewelyn, Guardian Dante Leonidas(vampire), Sentinel Shifter Sawyer Lennar, Isabelle Rand(Damien’s Shifter friend), Dwyer Lowell(Alpha-Shifter), and Saxon Einar(Sentinel Shifter). Don’t feel overwhelmed. They are well written and easy to keep track of within the story which is definitely one of the many things I enjoy about this series.

The story continues where book one left off. The sometimes witty, dark haired, blue-eyed, beauty and daughter of an Alpha Shifter, Payton Llewleyn had almost been kidnapped. But luckily another shifter named Damien Lowell was there to rescue her. Payton is the daughter of the Alpha of her shifter kind and someone was determined to steal both her and her brother Vaughn.

Lucky for Payton, Damien Lowell was there to help her with his tall, handsome, and concerned shifter self. He wants to make sure she heals up from the wounds she received during his rescue but what he didn’t realize is how much Payton would effect him and flip his world upside down. All he’s ever wanted was to someday help his pack return to their rightful place and stop someone very close to him from destroying anything else while causing mayhem. When he is literally snowed in and stuck in a cabin with Payton, he sends a friend to notify her family that she is safe and healing.

When shifter Isabelle Rand does a simple deed for her good friend Damien, she was nervous about entering an old territory that she hadn’t been around in a while. But the situation becomes more than she bargained for when she comes in contact with Zane, a Sentinel Shifter. Then we also have Sentinel Shifter Sawyer and human Kenzie who are being held hostage by people they don’t know. They struggle with their strong personalities and sexual tension while trying to pretend to be other people in front of their kidnappers.

There are so many entertaining and wonderful facets to this story and I loved every minute of it! This one is definitely a steamy read and it was the all written in a great flow with the story. Will the mystery enemy be revealed? Can there ever truly be peace between them all or will tensions only rise? What will happen when new love interests emerge but differences threaten to pull them all apart? This story is so amazing and captivating because of the hot moments, romantic bonds, the suspense and mystery all through this story! The characters continue to keep me engaged into their individual story lines which readers should definitely love. And yes, there are sexy Alpha-males all over this. I highly recommend this novel and this series. Once again, great job Ranae and Lara!

Hot, romantic but could get to the point a little faster!

Payton and Damien's story is just as romantic and intense in this second novel about shape shifters and vampires working together against those that are corrupted by greed. The novel is well-written and very enjoyable but perhaps it does take a long time for things to happen and there are a lot of side diversions as the author tries to build up to another book. Normally I wouldn't mind but the chronological side of the events get a little messed up and make inconsistencies appear more obvious. It also happened in the first novel but the newness over rode the problem.

It is still enjoyable but the addition of characters lacking the ability to read each other is prolonged to the detriment of the plot. I felt like shaking the characters for missing what was in front of them. It also brought out the similarities between the couples which would be easier to accept if it happened in the next book. I think the author is trying to hard to hook us into reading the series by giving us all these hints and situation to prepare us to read the next book when it is not necessary. The writing and the stories are good enough without that. Instead it becomes a series of misunderstandings that are dragged out a little too much and interfere with the current story. I am also thinking the third book perhaps should have been the second and it distracted my focus.
Still the author has a most appealing style and it is worth the effort.

I adore this series!
Kenderson does an amazing job. The dynamic of this book, heck the whole series is spectacular!
Damien and Peyton are from two different sides of the shifter world. One Cat and one Wolf. Their fathers hate each other but that means nothing when it comes to their attraction! It's explosive! There's plotting, seduction, love!
I love how the author give us the goodies on so many different aspects of all the characters! I will be anxiously waiting for book 3!!!

Resit Haylamaz is the editor in chief of Kaynak Publishing in Istanbul, Turkey. He has many publications on the lives of the Prophet Muhammad and his leading companions. His two volume book is the best-selling biography of Prophet Muhammad in his native Turkish. He lives in Istanbul, Turkey.

Born and raised in Turkey, Fatih Harpci graduated from Marmara University in Istanbul. He received his PhD degree from the Department of Religion at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. He lives in Niagara Falls, NY.

Prophet Muhammad (pbuH) did not hold only sword in his life...

Dr. Haylamaz is the author of best selling titles like Khadija, Aisha, etc. He knows the Sahabe and especially Prophet Muhammad's (pbuH) family. I read several siyar titles including Martin Links and Salih Suruc(Turkish). I thought I have known most about our prophet's life. But in this two volume book, I found out lots of new things.

The most different thing about this book is: It is covering of the gazves (wars) of the prophet but it is not the center of life. In other siyars you see Bedir, Uhud, Hendek etc. take the 60-70% of the title. Not in this one. From 23 years of his prophet-hood, only couple months keep him busy with the gaves. So the book mentions more about other aspects of his life. This gave it a very different richness.

Finally a good English Seerah

I bought this at a conference. It is the first book of Seerah that I have that was originally written in English, not a translation. This makes a huge difference. I have almost finished vol 1 and I can't put it down! He gives sources and references that are well accepted (Tabari, Bukhari, Qurtubi, etc). The book is rich in detail. I like this Seerah even better than "The Sealed Nectar". A must have and very reasonably priced.

She is also the editor in chief of Classical Philology, coeditor of the Oxford Encyclopedia of Rhetoric, and author of numerous works, including Ideology in Cold Blood and Actors in the Audience. Thomas Bartscherer is a doctoral candidate in the Committee on Social Thought at the University of Chicago.

13 Ways of Looking at a Lovebird

An interesting, provocative book. It could have used more illustrations (so much to choose from on this topic!) but the essays are generally of high quality and the responses spice it up (the Lear/Zizek exchange, for example, is a gem). Writing style varies greatly, from the scholarly to the quasi-confessional to poetry and fiction. Any reader is bound to like some pieces more than others, but you can skip around with relative impunity, and the introduction ties it all together pretty nicely. Uninspiring graphics

I have had to read the entire text for a course, and it is not a particularly interesting book to read - at times the author seems a bit verbose. Figures in the textbook are in black, gray and white - very monotonous. Most have a gradient background that fades from dark grey to white. This makes reading the book difficult at times, especially when the text in the figure is in the dark grey section. It would have been better to have no background at all.

The summary of key points is helpful, but the layout needs work. The Index does not include some important terms.

Xiaozhou Wu has been teaching Chinese for more than twenty years and is in the department of modern languages and cultures at Santa Monica College. He previously taught comparative literature and Chinese at Wichita State University, the University of Iowa, and California State University at Los Angeles.

love the book and does a good job of describing sentence structure and tenses. will continue to read it over and over. good definition of when to use certain words for tenses. has good dictionary. a CD would have made it better. good book overall. thanks!
