Zorrilla, Mazón, Ferrández, Garrigós, Daniel, and Trujillo have done a great job in compiling a book that fills the gap in the related bibliography with an interesting and comprehensive coverage of the challenges that we face for linking business intelligence and the Web. The book contains a mixture of research insights, system architectures, discussion of tools, and real-world cases and organizes the discussion of these issues in two areas of coverage. First, the book covers the area of exploitation of data that are already present in the Web for the purposes of business intelligence. The book discusses topics like the management of unstructured text and its combination with super-structured environments like data warehouses and OLAP tools, as well as the management of relevance, freshness, and in general, quality of the Web data with a view to its exploitation via business intelligence tools. The second area involves the automation of data processing and the usage of the Web as a platform for business intelligence including topics like BI-as-a-service, mashups and the Semantic Web for business intelligence, and, collaborative business intelligence. The book mainly acts as a reference for the state of the art in several areas, including problems and challenges that are not straightforward to be addressed as well as suggestions for paths to follow. The book's primary target is breadth of coverage, with suggestions of the relevant readings for further probing and initial insights for solutions, rather than an in-depth investigation of technical problems in the typical research-oriented fashion. About the Author

Marta Elena Zorrilla Pantaleón is an Assistant Professor in Computer Science at the University of Cantabria (Spain). She earned her Bachelor's degree in Telecommunication Engineering and PhD in Computer Science at the University of Cantabria in 1994 and 2001, respectively. She has participated in and managed more than 20 research projects, most of them with companies and she is author of a database book and more than 40 works published in international journals, books and conferences. She is an active reviewer of several international journals and conferences (DSS, IJCSA, IEEE-Education, IEEE-RITA, SCI, BEWEB, etc.). Her research interests are the design and development of Information Systems and intelligent systems for companies and, inside the educational area, the application of data mining techniques and OLAP technologies in order to analyse and improve Web-based learning sites.

Jose-Norberto Mazón is Assistant Professor at the Department of Software and Computing Systems in the University of Alicante (Spain). He obtained his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Alicante (Spain) within the Lucentia Research Group. He has published several papers about data warehouses and requirement engineering in national and international workshops and conferences, (such as DAWAK, ER, DOLAP, BNCOD, JISBD and so on) and in several journals such as Decision Support Systems (DSS), SIGMOD Record or Data and Knowledge Engineering (DKE). He has also been co-organizer of the International Workshop on Business Intelligence and the Web (BEWEB 2010) and the International Workshop on The Web and Requirements Engineering (WeRE 2010). His research interests are: business intelligence, design of data warehouses, multidimensional databases, requirement engineering and model driven development.

Óscar Ferrández is a postdoctoral researcher in the BioMedical Informatics department at the University of Utah (USA). He got his Ph.D in Computational Linguistics at the University of Alicante (Spain) within the Natural Language Processing and Information Systems research group. He has publications in international journals (such as Information Sciences, Data and Knowledge Engineering and Information Processing and Management) as well as communications in relevant conferences and workshops related to his research field. He has been involved in several national and European research projects together with other international research institutions. He is an active member and reviewer of several international journals and conferences. His research interests are focused on human system interaction; ontologies and Semantic Web; machine learning; knowledge discovering; and natural language processing and its application to clinical records.

Irene Garrigós is an Assistant Professor and post-doc researcher at the University of Alicante, (Spain), from which she holds a PhD and a Master's in Computer Science. She has published several papers in national and international workshops, conferences and journals (such as ICWE, ER, WISE, APWEB, JISBD, Information and Software Technologies, Journal of Web Engineering and so on). Dr. Garrigós has served as a Program Committee member of several workshops and conferences such as ER, JISBD, WISM, MDA, FPUML, UWA and has served as assistant referee in several international conferences such as WWW and ICWE. She has done research stays in Belgium (Vrije Universiteit Brussel) and the Netherlands (Technische Universiteit Eindhoven). Her research interests are: Web engineering, personalization, model driven development, requirement engineering, Web and business intelligence and adaptive systems.

Through the first five chapters, Robert describes his journey, meeting his teacher Xiao Yao when he was 8 years old, and practicing 2 - 4 hours a day, first martial arts, and then qigong for healing, while cultivating inner balance and developing spiritual awareness.

In the course of his training, he says that he learned hundreds of Qigong practices, and in this book he shares several foundational practices. Through the following 11 chapters, Robert guides you to the process of awakening qi power, using a sword finger, creating a qi ball, empowering three dantiens (lower, middle, and upper), balancing the three dantiens, empowering the central meridian, lotus meditation, and connecting universe exercise.

The qigong exercises are illustrated, and there are links to brief videos at SoundsTrue website. While these videos are helpful, they seem to be designed more to give you a preview of what you may expect from the DVDs you can get to get more out of the exercises.

Having also purchased the Master Key videos through the SoundsTrue website, just as this book, they are truly professionally created. Robert has a resonant, hypnotic voice and through the video he radiates calm, balanced energy and both the videos and this book are at the same time informative, instructional and enjoyable.

The slant of qigong practice presented in this book is primarily on creating inner balance, and becoming spiritually centered in the process, and then transforming inner imbalances and fostering healing through manipulation of energy, as well as through spiritual awareness.

Robert has dedicated a good chunk of this book to the cultivation of spiritual awareness, and here he shares a simple practice for experiencing Awakened Awareness.

Through the last three chapters, Robert shares guidelines for practicing the exercises; explores how energetic imbalances affect relationships and intimacy, and how you can create a healthier, more balanced relationships by first cultivating inner balance; and has a chapter on the evolution of the self-aware universe.

The practices involving the balancing and empowerment of three dantiens and the central meridian are called the Four Golden Wheels, and the practices presented in this book are summed up by Xiao Yao:

Life changing book

The deep humility, authenticity, and spiritual power in this book is equalled only, in my experience, in books by Eckhart Tolle. Peng tells his riveting life story in the first part of the book, and then provides wisdom, exercises, and meditations of qigong. I read the book recently when it was published by a small company, and now Sounds True has republished the book. What strikes me most about Robert Peng is the living current of the Tao that flows through his words, and through his movements in his DVD's. He is clearly deeply united with the One Life, the Tao. I learned about Peng from psychiatrists Dr. Patricia Gerbarg and Dr. Richard Brown, who are two people I have great respect for.

Extraordinary book by an Extraordinary Qi Gong Master

This is the same book as the previously published Qi Gong Master which I read two years ago. The first half of the book is Robert's autobiography and the second half contains qi gong exercises. I have the good fortune to have taken over a dozen classes with Robert as well as a week-long retreat with him in Costa Rica and I can say that Robert is without a doubt one of the top Qi Gong teachers in the world today. His knowledge, skills and wisdom are matched by his humility and sincere dedication to his students. The chapter on the 100 day water fast is so fascinating that I have read it over and over. He describes experiences that I have not come across anywhere else. This is a great book for anyone who wants to read about a genuine Qi gong master and to start practicing Qi gong.

Adds reason to faith founded in reason

The Cowherds collective provides a series of essays about ethics in Buddhist Madyamaka philosophy, especially that advocated by Shantideva. This is often deep formal analysis, with numerous references to Western philosophical positions by author. Not a light read at all, but that's the point. It's for those who want to feel more confident that Madyamaka morality is logically grounded. It will increase the "reason" level in one's "faith grounded in reason" for wisdom loving practitioners. Though formal, the warmth and "care" underlying the intellectual approach shines through. As in other essay collections which many of these contributors are involved it is worth the effort whether you are a Buddhist interested in philosophy, or vice versa.
