James R. Brayshaw spent years studying, teaching, and writing about the religion he was raised in. His research about the origin of Satan has brought him to become an authority on the subject. He lives in Western Canada with his wife and two sons. James has worked to extinguish the fire of hell and Satan with the tenacity needed to fight a three alarm blaze. The Amazon series is 10 times better!

The book is a cute read for the younger set. However, it is NOT at all like the fabulous show on Amazon! A group of us (ages 7 to 70) binge watched the series and have rewatched 3 times. The book makes you think that there was no magic until the last pages. It also does not have the fabulous back story of the grandmother, her two friends and the disappearing boyfriend!

My daughter is a huge fan of the show so when I saw this book I had to get it! She loves it!!! It's so much more elaborate, of course, and detailed than the book. She enjoys reading it and comparing it to the series, like the description of the girls are quite different and so forth. And I'm so happy I can get her off the computer or t.v and read more!! I will be buying this authors other books for sure!

My daughter loved this book. As a parent, I found it very fun to read with her. It was very wholesome and fun story. My daughter (9) enjoyed the bits of humor thrown in throughout the book. There is a show based on this book that my daughter also enjoyed.

This book should be reprinted--for grown-ups.

I just read this book at the funeral of a dear friend of mine who died in a house fire last week. This book offered the only crumb of comfort I have found in this tragic situation. The funeral attendees hung onto every word and many people thanked me for reading it. The overall theme is the cyclical nature of life and death, how each of us is an important part of the whole web of life, how there are things we simply will not understand in this lifetime. The book emphasizes the uniqueness of the individual, the need for acceptance of both life and death as natural events and the importance of finding the purpose of one's own life. My friend's youth (aged 40), desire to live and the violent nature of her death have made this loss very difficult for us survivors to accept and understand; the usual religious answers (of any religion) simply don't cut it in this situation and her family asked me specifically to read this book. I intend to lay in a stock to give to grieving friends in the future. I cannot believe it is out of print. What a sad commentary on our death-phobic culture. By the way, I am fifty years old and there were no children at this funeral. I would read or give this book to anyone, of any age, who is struggling with grief and the loss of a loved one.

Coping with Death--A Story for Children and Adults

The Fall of Freddy the Leaf is an extraordinary book for anyone, especially children, to understand the beauty of life and the inevitability of death. The artful metaphor of a person's life being a leaf--whom we follow through his budding, existence, and finally, decay--gives word pictures to children who cannot yet comprehend what "death" means. The imagery creates a lasting comfort, not only for children, but also for adults who are having difficulty understanding "Why, God?" As for its basis on faith, the book is written so that any religion may adapt the metaphor to its own beliefs--after all, death is inevitable no matter what belief one embraces or denies.

A great book for helping children talk about death.

As a counselor, I have been using this book for several years to help children and their families deal with death and other losses. It is a simple and positive way to help children (especially very young ones) open up when something sad happens in their lives. Parents who struggle with talking about death with their children can really benefit from using this as a tool to help explain loss and grief. Adults, as well, can be reassured with this very nice story about the end of physical existence. I strongly recommend it.

Decent book, lacks some explanations IMO

I started reading this book and it is a decent book. I think some of the explanations lack sufficient detail and it takes a while to figure out what the author is talking about. Comparing to other science books, I feel like it is not as clear... but I don't know of any other chemical kinetics book that would be better to recommend.

Whether those values and beliefs are useful or useless is not really covered here, coverage only ensures that these values and beliefs had significant influence: early on the influence was directly on industry, later on the influence was more on academics and then indirectly through students who have been educated in various schools of thought (e.g., Mayo).

Missing is the mention of contributions by Herbert Simon and other social business philosophers whose ideas have since proven themselves quite useful.

What I particularly loved about this book is that it went all the way back. It began with management in ancient civilizations, continued through management in medieval times and then, and only then, went to the Industrial Revolution as the beginning of "modern management." It discusses classical management, scientific management, management philosphies and emerging school of management thought. Then it has a fabulous timeline that begins at the beginning and goes through 1955. This book was published in 1972, so it is not the newest book on the block. However, if you're interested in how it all began, this is the book for you!

Lacking a little clarity, but still good

This book is unique in that it offers an intellectual history of management thought, which is a much needed effort in the halls of the ivory tower. Simply stated, this book fills a void that weakens the overall quality of work done in the area. However, that said this book attempts to cover a huge range of subjects and works. As a result, the book loses focus at points and does not recover quickly. This simply means that portions of chapters lose focus and leave you wondering from where the link to next readings was generated. All in all, it is easy to read and makes a contribution. So get it, and enjoy.
